Burnsville High School Theatre Guild kicks off Season 65 with ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’

Burnsville High School Theatre Guild is thrilled to announce its upcoming performance of “Roald Dahl's Charlie and Chocolate Factory: The New Musical.”

Directed by Kate Herrera, the vibrant musical follows along as the world-famous Willy Wonka opens the gates to his mysterious factory … but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination, including chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator – all to be revealed by Wonka's army of curious Oompa-Loompas.

“It has been wonderful to work with students on ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,’” said Herrera. “I have loved getting to collaborate with them to create a comedic, witty and imaginative candy wonderland that all ages will enjoy! Not only will the students’ talent shine through in this production, but their hearts will as well. This classic story reminds us that even in a world full of temptation and chaos, staying true to yourself is the sweetest reward of all.”

Performances run Nov. 6-8 and 13-15 at 7 p.m., with a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. on Nov. 8.

As a special treat, senior citizens are invited to attend a free preview performance on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $11 for seniors and $10 for students and can be purchased at the door or online at https://mrazcenter.ludus.com.

All performances are at the Mraz Center for the Performing Arts at Burnsville High School, 600 E. Hwy 13.
