Former Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 hockey coach Frank Senta has been named to the Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association (MHCA) Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

Senta and fellow inductees will be recognized Friday, Sept. 25, at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul between periods of the Minnesota Wild game against the Dallas Stars. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

A Babbitt, Minn., native and 1974 graduate, Senta was a three-sport athlete and captain of the football, hockey and baseball teams. He went on to play at the Air Force Academy and Hamline University before beginning his coaching career at Rosemount in 1980.

After a decorated career as a junior varsity, assistant and head coach at Rosemount and Lakeville, where he made three state appearances combined, he moved to Burnsville and proceeded to coach for more than 20 years in different capacities. His sons Nick, Jake and Luke all played hockey at Burnsville. Luke competed on the 2017 state tournament team.

During his tenure at both Lakeville and Burnsville, Senta was named Section Assistant Coach of the Year.

“Their careers are filled with remarkable accomplishments, but their true legacy is the relationships they built and the lasting impact they’ve had on players, coaches, programs and communities throughout Minnesota,” said MHCA Executive Director Dustin Vogelgesang, speaking about the inductees. “This is an incredibly deserving Hall of Fame class, and we’re proud to recognize what each of them has given to our game.”

The Hall of Fame Class of 2026 also includes Matt Majka (Minnesota Wild), Mike Randolph (Duluth East/St. Thomas Academy/Northern Lakes), Greg Rajanen (Austin/Fridley/Anoka), Lee Smith (Eden Prairie) and Mike Taylor (Eagan).
