Seniors presented $134K in scholarships at Foundation 191 ceremony
Burnsville High School seniors were awarded 104 scholarships totaling $134,000 at this year’s Community Scholarships Award Ceremony on May 14 at the school’s Mraz Center.
The event, sponsored by Foundation 191, provides graduating seniors with the opportunity to receive a college scholarship through its Community Scholarship Program. Many area businesses, organizations, clubs, foundations and individuals fund these scholarships.
“Our District’s core values include being a caring community, building inclusive partnerships, and ensuring students have agency over their experiences and their futures. That’s what this event is all about - our community coming together to give young people the opportunity to make and follow their own paths,” Superintendent Dr. Theresa Battle said. “Thank you to the community members and organizations who make this possible and for their belief in the promise and value of each of these young people.”
