Student Parking Permits

Parking permit registration is required for all students who intend to drive to Burnsville High School. Please click on the link below to register for a parking pass. Once completed, you will be directed to a payment link for the pass. The cost for a parking permit is $100. Students who park onsite during the school day are expected to complete this registration.

Guidelines regarding student driving, parking and use of parking lot:

• All vehicles parked on school grounds must be registered with the school. All vehicles must display a current school hanging permit and park only in the designated student parking areas (designated students only spaces). Any vehicles parked illegally in a bus loading zone, sidewalk or grass, fire lane, visitor’s spaces, handicapped spaces, administrative or staff parking may be subject to revocation of the parking permit for the remainder of the year.  
• All students arriving at the beginning of the school day must enter the building through Door #1 (Activities Center Door). This is the closest door to all student parking spaces. Suggested arrival time is 7:30-7:45 a.m. Please remember that you must be on time to school - Door #1 will be locked to outside entrants once class begins.
• You must be a licensed driver and covered by insurance before registering for a permit.
• Vehicles should be locked at all times. The school is not responsible for damage or theft of vehicles or their contents.
• It is a privilege to drive to school and park in the school parking lot. Our expectation is you drive responsibly in our parking lot. Unsafe or illegal driving will be referred to our School Resource Officers.  
• Student vehicles may be subject to search when there is reasonable cause to believe that tobacco, drugs, alcohol, weapons, stolen property or other contraband might be present in the vehicle.
• An annual permit costs $100 for the school year / $50 per semester.  A new registration is expected each year. Administration will work with families who have specific needs and will have common approaches to ensure equity across the system.  Included in this review is the expectation that students who qualify for Free/Reduced lunch will not be charged a fee upon successful registration.  Please note, it is up to the student/family to produce the documentation necessary for the fee waiver. 
• Students in violation of these regulations are subject to intervention as described in our Policy 527.

 

Riding the Bus

District 191 provides safe and efficient transportation to special education students, and regular education student who qualify. Students who qualify for transportation include secondary students who live 1.5 miles or more from school.

The walking distance is defined as the shortest distance from the child’s residence by public walkway, street or highway to the assigned entrance of the school the student attends as measured by the District’s computerized GIS map.
